The aim of the Community Work Ireland is to promote and support community work as a means of addressing poverty, social exclusion and inequality and ultimately as a means of achieving social change that will contribute to the creation of a more just, sustainable and equal society.
The CWC currently has four strategic priorities:
- To work to embed quality community work in practice and policy
- To resource community work through the provision of analysis on existing, new and emerging issues
- To contribute to the development of structures that support and enablen quality community work
- To ensure the sustainability and further development of the CWC
The CWC has a long standing expertise in leading the development of community work approaches to social exclusion, discrimination and inequality. The organisation has been a major player in the development of models of community work application appropriate to the needs presenting in post-industrial society.
